Spring Internship Program

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of women in need? Do you have a strong desire to learn and contribute to a dynamic team? If so, the Asiyah Women’s Center Fall Internship Program is the perfect opportunity for you!

Internship Details:

We are excited to offer an enriching fall internship program designed for aspiring individuals enrolled in undergraduate programs related to social work, medical, psychology, and other relevant fields. This program will run from January 22nd to May 20th, providing interns with the chance to gain hands-on experience, develop essential skills, and contribute to meaningful projects.

Duration: January 22nd to May 20th 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our dedicated team to assist in providing essential services to women in need.
  • Participate in workshops, group sessions, and individual support initiatives.
  • Contribute to program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Conduct research to support program development and improvement.
  • Engage in direct interactions with clients, offering a compassionate and supportive approach.
  • Assist in administrative tasks and organization to ensure smooth program operations.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program related to social work, medical, psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong passion for supporting women’s well-being and empowerment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental attitude towards individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Reliable and responsible with a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Job Description: Social Work Intern

Position: Social Work Intern

Location: Brooklyn, New York

Hours: Minimum of 15 hours per week, onsite

Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Social Work Interns to join our team and contribute to our mission. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of social work while directly impacting the lives of women in need.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our social work team to provide individualized support to women accessing our services.
  • Participate in workshops, group sessions, and support initiatives, both in-person and virtually.
  • Assist in conducting intake assessments, identifying needs, and developing personalized action plans.
  • Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to clients in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
  • Assist in connecting clients with external resources, services, and referrals as needed.
  • Help maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting interactions and progress.
  • Contribute to program planning, development, and evaluation to enhance our services.
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure holistic support for clients.
  • Engage in regular supervision and learning opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

  • Collaborate with the Programs Team to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of workshops, events, and support initiatives.
  • Participate in program development, including researching topics, creating content, and designing materials.
  • Help manage program logistics, such as scheduling, participant registration, and communication.
  • Assist in data collection and evaluation efforts to measure program effectiveness and impact.
  • Contribute to social media and marketing efforts to promote our programs and engage our community.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of program participation, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the creation of reports, presentations, and other program-related documentation.
  • Engage in virtual meetings and remote work to support ongoing program activities.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant field (e.g., social work, communications, public health, nonprofit management).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating and curating engaging content for our social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement a social media content calendar.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries on social media platforms.
  • Research and stay updated on trends, news, and developments in social media and women’s empowerment.
  • Help strategize and execute social media campaigns to raise awareness about our organization’s mission and impact.
  • Capture and edit photos, videos, and other multimedia content for use on social media.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and content.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for creative content ideas and campaigns.

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in social media, digital marketing, and using online platforms for positive impact.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to craft compelling and engaging content.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
  • Basic graphic design skills and proficiency in tools like Canva or Adobe Spark (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Creative thinking and willingness to contribute innovative ideas.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to a minimum of 10 hours per week onsite and 5 hours of remote work.
